Lauren Ashley is a photographer from the great city of Columbus in Ohio.
When I was little I was always told that I was ‘Artsy Fartsy’ * insert giggle here * whether that was through drawing, painting, singing, dancing, doing hair, make up or taking pictures, I was in it all. During high school, I was constantly doing all of my friends hair and makeup, then snapping photos of them on my disposable cameras. Without realizing it as I think back over time, one thing that was always with me was a camera in my hand. There to capture a special moment, a beautiful view, that perfect portrait shot with the sunset glow or maybe even something small that no one else seemed to notice.
In my high school AP English class, we had to write about what what we wanted to do one we graduated, and I knew I wanted to do something in the arts, I just didn’t know what. I wrote my essay about doing photography, but then ended up attending beauty school and worked as a hair and makeup artist on many sets. My hands started to give out on me and I needed to find something else to do to keep my love of art alive. I resorted to what has always been with me, my camera and my eye for detail, angles and finding beauty in all things.
Since then, I have been privileged to take my camera all over from my life in Columbus, Ohio to a photoshoot in the mountains of Utah, trips to Maine, California, Pennsylvania and other places. This portfolio captures my photographs not only from fashion editorials, but also my love of photographing children, Seniors, siblings, weddings and more!
